Filled
with many beautiful parks and golf courses, Apopka
is a wonderful place to live. As one of the fastest growing communities
in Central Florida both in residential and commercial
markets, the City of Apopka, located
15 minutes from Orlando
in beautiful Northwest Orange
County, is strategically located minutes from
Mount Dora,
Altamonte Springs
and Maitland.
Wlth a population of over 40,000 and built on the site of a Seminole village, the city of Apopka hosts orange groves, small communities, forests and farmland. One tradition says the name derives from Seminole, for "potato-eating place," while others translate it as "trout-eating" or "catfish-eating"
Before Apopka was "The Indoor Foliage Capital of the World" or even before it was "The Fern City," it was "The Lodge." At one time, the city limits were measured one mile in all directions from the Masonic Lodge, which is still in its original location on Main Street. In 1912 ferns became the industry for Apopka and
soon developed the name of "Fern City".
More tropical plants were introduced to the growers
in the area. This influx of foliage took over the
fern industry and the City became known as "The
Indoor Foliage Capital of the World". Progress
continued and today Apopka is still an important
hub of commerce.
In addition to the area’s natural springs, excellent golf courses, and the West Orange Trail, Apopka offers wonderful park facilities for your family’s enjoyment. All Apopka recreation parks are open to the public.

will be a trail ring around Central Florida. Each
